Legislation has been introduced by three democratic state senators to create a Prescription Drug Affordability Board (PDAB) in Michigan as a result of information determined by the Michigan Prescription Drug Task Force that found one third of residents aged 19 to 64 stopped taking their prescriptions due to cost. Beyond Senate Bill (483) which would establish the PDAB and define its powers, there are related bills (484 and 485) that would amend the Insurance Code to require any insurer that offers health insurance policies in Michigan to comply with upper payment limits, including Medicaid. These bills have passed the Senate and have been introduced in the House. MCEP will be monitoring this legislation.
